At the age of 87, Claudia Cardinale, a celebrated Italian actress best known for her parts in The Leopard and 8½, passed away.
She died on Tuesday at her home in Nemours, France, with her children by her side, according to her agent Laurent Savry, who spoke to French news agency AFP.
Cardinale appeared in almost 100 motion pictures and television shows
Leading woman of Italian cinema in the 1960s, Claudia Cardinale was hailed as Italy's "dream girl" by filmmakers Luchino Visconti, Sergio Leone, and Federico Fellini for her sensuous beauty.
She passed away in Nemours, France. She was eighty-seven.
Laurent Savry, her agent, told Agence France-Presse on Tuesday that she had died.
There was no report of the cause. In recent years, Ms. Cardinale had resided in Nemours, which is located south of Paris.
Over her six-decade career in Europe, Ms. Cardinale starred in over 150 films. She also starred in other Hollywood productions, such as the beloved comedy "The Pink Panther" by Blake Edwards.
