“What do you fear as an artist and an American?” a journalist asked the Oscar-winning actor on Sunday at Spain’s San Sebastián film festival. After giving the “very difficult” subject some thought, she answered, “I love my country, but I don’t, at this time, recognize my country.”

The “Changeling” actress added that she and her family had always lived overseas and acknowledged that she is aware of how “very dangerous” censorship can be. “I have an egalitarian, global, and united perspective. I believe that anything that restricts or separates someone’s freedom of expression is extremely hazardous.

“My family is from throughout the world. She remarked, “My friends, my life, and my worldview are equal, united, and international.” “Anywhere or anything that restricts or separates people’s freedoms and personal expressions from one another is extremely dangerous.”

“I believe that we must be careful not to speak in a lighthearted manner because these are such serious times. Thus, I’ll exercise caution during a news conference,” she continued. “But these are really, really difficult times.”

Jolie went to see her most recent picture, “Couture,” which was directed by Alice Winocour, at the festival. The celebration started on September 19 and will end on September 27.
