Disney is being attacked from every angle. Within 48 hours of deciding to permanently remove late-night star Jimmy Kimmel from the air, ABC’s parent business was embroiled in another contentious political spat. The business is currently dealing with political pressure from both Democrats and Republicans, celebrity threats to sever relations, and protests outside its studios.
Jimmy Kimmel Suspension
Kimmel was fired on Wednesday for his remarks regarding the murder of Charlie Kirk. ABC’s ruling has intensified a free speech controversy that started soon after Kirk was killed, when conservatives accused conservatives of participating in the “cancel culture” they had claimed to detest. Some conservatives attempted to label Kimmel’s dismissal as “consequence culture.”

Trump’s remarks followed days after Disney suspended late-night host Jimmy Kimmel indefinitely after Federal Communications Commissioner Brendan Carr raised the possibility of regulatory action against Disney-owned ABC in a podcast. Kimmel faced criticism for remarks he made on Charlie Kirk, the White House ally and conservative activist who was shot and killed last week.
Pressure on Disney
Following Kimmel’s suspension, Carr stated, “I don’t think this is the last shoe to drop,” and implied that other programs, such as ABC’s “The View,” would be targeted by the FCC, an organization under congressional supervision that is meant to function independently of the president.

Democrats and some free speech hawks protested the Kimmel story. Chuck Schumer, the Senate’s minority leader, called for Carr’s resignation.
Vance wrote on X, “Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t funny, his ratings were in the toilet, and his advertisers were revolting.” Additionally, nobody is fooled by the sulking from the leftover “free speech” during the Biden years.
On Wednesday night, two days after the late-night host chastised individuals for their reactions to Kirk’s murder, it was announced that Kimmel’s show will be taken off the air. Authorities published suspect Tyler Robinson’s text conversations on Tuesday, claiming that he targeted Kirk because Robinson “had enough of his hatred.”
